I think the cardinal water theme (Cancer) comes out strongly because John's also born on the cusp. June 22 falls under the spell of enchantment and I cannot imagine anything more thrilling and enchanting than video games!!
Also, it's something you can do at home (Cancer) and in solitude.
Definitely a very good idea and hint for one of the best Cancer gifts!
