In general and on a mundane level, events are likely to happen around January 1, January 8-9, January 15, January 21 and/or January 28. During this month of January 2016, a couple of planetary configurations will affect some birthdays in particular:
Mercury enters Aquarius around January 1 suggesting the ability to see the broader picture and concepts. Mercury is the messenger and in this humanitarian sign, group discussions are favored. Expect news about innovations during Mercury's transit in the sign of technology, discoveries and novelties. Around January 3 impulsive and pushy Mars enters intense Scorpio. No doubt, this can be a forceful combo as Mars is able to act with more precision and focus. This transit usually brings a heavy workload. There is so much to accomplish but Mars has stamina and courage and it will succeed. Beware of manipulation, reckless battles and sarcasm. The first indications of Mars' negative or even hostile and forceful influences might happen around January 4-5 when stationing Mercury at 1° Aquarius squares Mars at 1° Scorpio. Stationing Mercury is now about to move backwards and is in a verbally combative and argumentative mood. Geminis and Virgos (and Gemini and Virgo Ascendants) may not feel too well around the station. Also, things may not turn out as expected and it's best to keep a low profile just now. Important decisions are best delayed till Mercury turns direct again later this month. In mundane astrology, Mercury's stations often mark an increased risk of strikes here and there. The current Mercury-Mars square finds place in fixed signs, indicating fixed convictions and not wanting to give in. When stationing Mercury squares Mars also beware of transportation and/or traffic accidents. Casualties are to be feared, the more so because around the same day of January 5 Venus at 7° Sagittarius squares Neptune at 7° Pisces and the Sun and forceful Pluto conjoin at 15° Capricorn, a so-called 'critical' degree of 'depression and separation.' Clearly, watch out for an eventful period between the January 4-7 days. The waning Venus-Neptune square indicates tragedy and sacrifice (often out of desperation). This waning square points to being swayed (and seduced) easily resulting in severe disappointments and (self-)destruction. This is even reinforced by the Sun-Pluto conjunction, indicating oppression and emotional turmoil. Around January 7 the Sun at 16° Capricorn squares Uranus at 16° Aries suggesting the need to be independent and free. This is the aspect of the rebel, the one who wants to escape from the chains that prevent moving forward. Around the same day of January 7, Jupiter stations at 23° Virgo and is going retrograde. In the sign of its fall, Jupiter may lack some faith and needs more tangible proofs. In Virgo, stationing Jupiter has so much to do and so many tiny details to process and/or correct. Don't forget to keep an eye on the legal side of everything because Jupiter in the sign of its fall tends to neglect the law. Retrograde Mercury re-enters corporate Capricorn around January 8 and regains some interest in economy and finances. Expect some communication, letters, news from the government, corporations, the banking world etc. The atmosphere becomes cooler and there are clouds in the sky around January 8 when Venus and Saturn conjoin at 12° Sagittarius. You may feel lonely, separated and or face money shortages or financial blockages/limitations. If you are born around January 17-18, March 3, April 17-18, June 3, July 20, September 5, October 20-21 or December 4-5 there is love's sorrow noticeable around January 8-9. Also, you may face financial issues (expenses, shortages,...). Around January 14 the Sun and Mercury meet at 23° Capricorn. There may be changes of the place, short trips and some things are starting to change in a gentle way. You may face some duties and obligations though. Venus at 23° Sagittarius squares its dispositor Jupiter at 23° Virgo around January 17 resulting in financial losses and expenses. There can be purchases but don't exaggerate because Jupiter in the sign of its fall tends to go 'overboard.' Try to be responsible. Around January 19 Venus at 24° Sagittarius squares the Nodes and brings a good mood, pleasantness with others and/or successful teamwork. The Sun enters Aquarius around January 20 while Mercury at 16° Capricorn squares Uranus at 16° Aries. There is breaking news, exciting talks or communication, nervous tension and some chaotic moments noticeable. Around January 21-22 Mercury conjoins Pluto at 15° Capricorn presenting some news with an emotional impact. Some research or investigations are necessary. Venus enters corporate Capricorn around January 23. In this earth sign, Venus values status and maturity, but also, and more importantly, money and material goods. Perhaps you may find love at the working floor and don't forget to consider people in a uniform as well. Relationships can be tense and stressful around the January 24 Full Moon though. Rejoice Geminis and Virgos (and Gemini and Virgo Ascendants) because around January 25 your sign ruler Mercury stations at 14° Capricorn and turns direct again. Slowly, you will be able to be more open about decisions you want to take. Some corporations, banks or the governments might have some news for you. On a mundane level, there can be strikes around the day of the station. Around January 26-27 there are happy feelings of love and for some the astrological configurations indicate love at first sight and irresistible attraction. These thrilling and exciting influences will affect you most if you are born around February 9-10, March 25-26, May 10-11, June 26-27. August 12-13, September 28-29, November 12-13 or December 26-27. However, for some others, these days of January 25-27 suggest impatience, misunderstandings, sadness, a mourning mood, disappointment and chaotic events and enforced actions. These less auspicious astrological influences may affect you if you are born around February 1, March 18, May 2-3, June 18-19, August 4-5, September 20-21, November 4-5 or December 19. Mercury and Pluto meet again at 16° Capricorn around January 29 and may present new options and a turn-over, a new direction or start. For the 2nd time this month, Mercury at 17° Capricorn will square Uranus at 17° Aries around January 31 resulting in another round of buzz, breaking news and a talkative mood. These late January 2016 days can be actually very windy, even stormy and noisy. Your Question I have heard and read about karmic relationships, and I have noticed that a relationship begun when Saturn is transiting your fifth house tend to be karmic in nature but very long lasting yet also very difficult. How true is this observation and does it get better? Our Answer There certainly will be karmic relationships built when transiting Saturn is in the 5th house and there can be long lasting relationships also but these descriptions are no general rule. The transiting Saturn cycle is about testing, restrictions, stress and responsibility. How much weight can one take before one collapses... That's what transiting Saturn is about. In the 5th house, transiting Saturn tends to create a creativity crisis. One is less spontaneous and is more easily attracted to more mature and/or serious persons, situations, experiences. This may indicate less interest in fun and play (and a temporary lower interest in sex as well). It may structure love bonds though, tighten them but this does not mean they will be long-lasting. You can never judge the cover of a puzzle by only taking one single piece (transting Saturn in the 5th house) in isolation... Venus Neptune ConnectionsIn the past we have written many times about different planetary connections, analogies or affinities, mainly containing the love planet Venus.This time, we want to delve deeper into the Venus Neptune connection. When do we have a Venus Neptune connection, theme or analogy? In most cases, the following configurations are used (there are more though (!) but this would lead us too far and make it more complicated than necessary):
What does the Venus Neptune connection signify? When the planet of encounters and relationships (Venus) blends with the planet of illusions and dreams (Neptune), relationships become more illusive. People with such a connection may be less discriminating in their relationship choices. This may result in disappointments, betrayal and confusion. Often, there is some fear to live in (the harsh) realities of life, resulting in the projection of a dream world with magic encounters. There are very high ideals that may not always materialize or manifest. Also, Venus Neptune connections represent the principle of Universal Love. This is not about physical love but rather about platonic love, the ideal of love, love dreams and/or spiritual love. Indeed, this connection is about Higher Love, reflecting compassion and helping, combined with some sacrificing traits. People with strong Venus Neptune connections can be eternal romantics and are not focused on physical 'love'. They may even dislike sex. They have very creative and artistic assets and tend to live in a world of wishful thinking. As with all connections involving Neptune, these people can be 'not of this world', not seeing things as they are, as if their perceptions are quite distorted, covered in a fog or hidden behind an unclear veil. Both Venus and Neptune are rather 'passive' and 'soft' planets and they need outer circumstances, other people, a partner to bring balance and bring some more structure and strength in their life. Venus Neptune connections point to being swayed easily and lacking some boundaries to block outer interference. Because Venus also represents one's values, there can be quite some confusion in the life of people with Venus Neptune connections related to values. Such people may often feel lost, have no sense of purpose or goal in life. They tend to drift at times and are most vulnerable then.
