The Astrology of Unmarried Men
Why (some) Men (Will) Never Marry
-- Based Upon Statistical Research --

Is He Astrologically Afflicted?

In this article we'd like to present our preliminary statistical research results regarding unmarried men (updated July 2016).

Our data-set contains just 61 natal charts of unmarried men, never married for whatever reason (because of illness, an untimely death, legal issues, religious or spiritual convictions etc.).

From a metaphysical point of view a marriage is never the ultimate goal in or the purpose of life.

Self-development is.

Only consider marrying if the marriage will help you in your self-development!

As usual the data come from the AstroDatabank which currently nears almost 60,000 birth data.

Unfortunately, the AstroDatabank blends unmarried people with late marriages in the same category denoting that we had the very laborious and time-consuming task to filter the unmarried men in this category out first.

This incorporated researching numerous biographies to find out who was never married at all.

The 61 data we kept are AA data (Rodden rating) and thus reliable and as accurate as possible.

Though 61 data is not enough to build a theory on, there are some astrological configurations that stand out already and indicate unmarried men.

Below we only present the most significant and interesting patterns.

Interestingly also, the following two astrological configurations are identical to those found in the dataset of unmarried women:

  • Mercury conjunct the ruler of the Ascendant (orb 3°).

This one does not come as a surprise because Mercury is never too far away from the Sun and Venus in which case both bodies must rule the Ascendant.

Though the results are statistically significant, there are much more relevant patterns than this one!

  • the MO/Vesta = SO midpoint (45° dial/list; orb 1°).

This one is more important and even intriguing.

Is this one of the midpoints signifying 'the bachelor' or 'bachelorette'?

The degree areas

Interestingly, the most personal points (Ascendant, MC, the Sun, the Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars) were often posited at the following degrees:

  • between 1°-2° in mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius or Pisces) (chi square 11.9)

  • between 3°-4° in mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius or Pisces) (chi square 11.9)

  • between 18°-19° in fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius) (chi square 11.9)

These results are not statistically significant, but still significant...

The Rulerships

This one stood out: the Sun and the ruler of the 9th house (modern rulerships) are in their 0-30° or 330-360° phases.

In other words, the Sun and the ruler of the 9th house are never more than 30° apart.

Another important pattern: the Sun and the ruler of the 7th house are in their 330°-360° phase (chi square 86.1).

Mercury and the ruler of the 7th house too are most often in their 330°-360° phase (chi square 78.0).

Some other powerful rulerships:

  • Mercury is conjunct the ruler of the 4th house (orb 3°) (chi square 23.2)

  • the ruler of the 1st house and the ruler of the 12th house are in their 330°-360° phase (chi square 63.1)

  • the ruler of the 3rd house is in the 1st house (chi square 38.5)

  • Uranus being the ruler of the 12th house is in a major aspect (conjunction, sextile, square, trine or opposition) (orb 3°) with the 6th-12th house cusps (Topocentric/Placidus houses) (chi square 52.9)

  • the ruler of the 5th house opposes the ruler of the 9th house (orb 6°) (chi square 49.0)

  • Mercury, ruler of the Ascendant, trines the MC (orb 3°) (chi square 49.0) or is in a major aspect with the MC-IC axis (orb 3°) (chi square 38.5)

  • Mercury, ruler of the 5th house is in a major aspect with the 5th-11th house cusps (orb 3°) (chi square 33.8)

The Midpoints

In the 45° dial/list, the following midpoints were found to be statistically significant:

  • NE/KN = SO (chi square 19.2)
  • MO/SA = KN (chi square 12.5)
  • SO/KN = Black Moon (mean apogee of the Moon) (chi square 12.1)
  • MO/UR = Ceres (chi square 12.1)
  • UR/AS = SA (chi square 12.1)
  • SA/Black Moon = MO (chi square 12.1)

The Aspects

  • the Sun semi-sextile Venus (orb 1°) (chi square 52.9)
  • Mars 18° Neptune (orb 1°) (chi square 52.9)
  • Chiron conjunct the North Node of the Moon (orb 6°) (chi square 25.6)
  • the Sun trine Saturn (orb 6°) (chi square 22.4)
  • the Moon square Chiron (orb 6°) (chi square 18.2)

Other Patterns

  • North Node of the Moon in the 4th house (chi square 24.0)
  • Jupiter stations (chi square 13.1)
  • house cusp 3 in Taurus (Topocentric houses) (chi square 18.0)
